Brazilian health authorities announced on Monday that they have cleared two previously suspected cases of Ebola after both patients tested negative for the virus.
The suspected cases were identified over the weekend and involved individuals exhibiting symptoms who had recently been in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda—regions currently dealing with Ebola outbreaks.
One patient in Sao Paulo tested positive for meningitis, and the other in Rio de Janeiro for malaria, but Ebola was ruled out in both instances following negative test results.
