People living near the Line of Control (LoC) are relieved as hostilities between India and Pakistan have ceased, allowing them to return to normal life, former diplomat KP Fabian stated. He described the ceasefire as a positive but modest advancement in a challenging relational landscape between the two nations.
In a conversation with ANI, Fabian urged for dialogues with Pakistan, suggesting Islamabad should ensure its territory is not used for terrorist operations against India. This assurance, he remarked, should prompt India to consider reciprocal actions, offering a platform for substantive negotiations.
Fabian underscored the necessity for Pakistan to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and provide opportunities for youth and others misled into militancy. He also underscored the importance of keeping diplomatic channels open despite ongoing disputes, including the strategic Indus Water Treaty conversation, reflecting on India's delicate position as both an upper and lower riparian state.
