The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is preparing to make a considerable impact at the Paris Air Show 2025, demonstrating India's growing prowess in aerospace and defense innovation. In a tweet on Monday, DRDO confirmed their participation in the event, showcasing a spectrum of indigenous technologies including next-generation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), advanced avionics, and native defense systems.
According to the DRDO, this participation underscores India's commitment to self-sufficiency, collaboration, and strategic capability on an international level. "At the Paris Air Show 2025, DRDO unveils India's aerospace innovations—featuring next-gen UAVs, advanced avionics, and indigenous defense systems," the organization stated, emphasizing a powerful display of India's strategic prowess on the global stage.
Accompanied by a video, the announcement gave glimpses of equipment and systems that DRDO will exhibit. It included the Beyond-Visual-Range (BVR) class of Air-to-Air Missiles (AAM), 'Astra', capable of engaging and neutralizing highly maneuverable supersonic aircraft under all-weather, day and night conditions. The missile, being developed in various versions, is integrated with SU-30 Mk-I aircraft entering service with the IAF.
The video also introduced the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Air Force Mark 2, also known as Tejas Mk-2, crafted by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Additionally, DRDO will introduce the Weapon Locating Radar (WLR), 'Swathi', designed in conjunction with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to identify hostile artillery, mortars, and rockets disrupting military operations. The Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C), a multiplier system for detecting and tracking enemy aircraft and UAVs, will also be showcased.
DRDO is set to display HELINA (Helicopter-based NAG), a third-generation fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) mounted on the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH). The upgrades to the Dornier aircraft, known as SHYEN, enhance its operational efficacy with advanced payloads. Scheduled from June 16 to 22 at Le Bourget, France, the event will provide a global platform for DRDO to exhibit its developments and encourage international cooperation.
