Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a historic two-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago, commencing on July 3, as part of his extensive eight-day tour covering multiple countries including Ghana, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia. This visit is anticipated to reignite and fortify bilateral ties, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Caribbean nation since 1999.

During his visit, PM Modi will engage in discussions with the Trinidad and Tobago President Christine Carla Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, focusing on enhancing diplomatic and economic relations. The visit holds special significance as it coincides with the 180th anniversary of the arrival of Indian immigrants to Trinidad and Tobago, strengthening the countries' shared Indian heritage bond.

The Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago, constituting the largest ethnic group, eagerly anticipates PM Modi's visit and a major diaspora event is planned. The tour aims to expand cooperation in emerging sectors like renewable energy and digital infrastructure, while also building on existing partnerships. Key documents across various areas of cooperation are expected to be signed, paving the way for a stronger bilateral relationship.
