A 24-year-old man in Sindh has become the province's first dengue-related fatality of 2025, as confirmed by Geo News. The patient, admitted to Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital, had been reliant on a ventilator and was suffering from a critically low platelet count, significantly below the normal range.

Sindh has reported 295 dengue cases this year, with an overwhelming majority, approximately 90%, concentrated in Karachi, which has documented 260 cases. This makes Karachi the most affected area. In contrast, divisions like Hyderabad and Shaheed Benazirabad have yet to report new cases, while Mirpurkhas and Sukkur each logged a single case.

Despite this recent fatality, 2025 is witnessing a notable decrease in dengue cases compared to previous years, attributed to enhanced preventive efforts. Experts caution that the approaching monsoon season may elevate disease risks. Residents are advised to eliminate stagnant water and use repellents.
