In a decisive response to escalating settler violence in the West Bank, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has unveiled a series of measures aimed at addressing the unrest, The Times of Israel reported. In an emergency meeting with top security officials, Katz emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for attacks on Israeli troops and security forces.
Following recent incidents involving Jewish extremists, including a riot outside an army base and vandalism at a security post, Katz announced the establishment of a joint task force to curb the violence. The task force will involve police, the IDF, and Shin Bet, with substantial police enforcement being pledged.
The Defense Minister also allocated significant funds towards integrating extremist youth into conventional educational frameworks and planned a follow-up meeting to assess progress. Opposition leaders and settler figures have denounced the radical attacks, demanding swift justice and highlighting the critical nature of law enforcement against such violence.
