As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his landmark visit to the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago, Indian High Commissioner Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit has underscored the country's eagerness for deeper bilateral engagement with India. The visit, marked by widespread enthusiasm among locals, aims at forging a comprehensive partnership.

Emphasizing historical ties, Rajpurohit noted that about half of Trinidad and Tobago's population is of Indian origin, descendants who have preserved their heritage for generations. This cultural legacy fuels excitement among the diaspora, who keenly monitor developments in India, further strengthening emotional bonds across the seas.

The High Commissioner stressed the importance of discussions extending the initiatives from last year's India-CARICOM Summit, focusing on agriculture, technology, health, and renewable energy. Modi's visit is seen as critical, especially given Trinidad and Tobago's new government, with several Indian-origin ministers eager to adopt India's technological advances.

Notably, Trinidad and Tobago is leading the Caribbean in implementing India's UPI platform, reflecting the countries' intertwined futures. Prime Minister Modi's visit, the first by an Indian Prime Minister since 1999, marks a pivotal moment in deepening Indo-Caribbean relations, as part of his broader five-nation tour.
