On Thursday, Bangladesh police arrested former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque. Officers from the Detective Branch (DB) apprehended Haque at his Dhanmondi residence around 8 am, confirmed by DB joint commissioner Nasirul Islam.
Haque, who served as Bangladesh's 19th Chief Justice, faces three undisclosed cases. However, notable accusations include corruption and altering judicial verdicts. The allegations stem from a Supreme Court case filed by lawyer Mujahidul Islam Shaheen in August and another filed at Fatulla Police Station by Abdul Bari Bhuiyan, citing forgery related to the 13th Amendment ruling.
This arrest is part of ongoing actions by Bangladesh's interim government, targeting individuals from various sectors who were active during former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's administration. This follows her ousting during a student-led uprising, with a new interim government now led by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus.
