The international community is mourning the loss of life following the tragic crash of an AN-24 aircraft in Russia's Amur region. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres extended his deepest condolences, according to deputy representative Farhan Haq at a recent briefing.

The ill-fated plane was traveling the route from Khabarovsk to Tynda when it stopped communicating and was later found wrecked in a devastating accident that claimed all lives on board. Guterres shared his condolences with both the victims' families and the Russian government.

A criminal investigation is underway, focusing on technical malfunctions and human error as potential causes. In solidarity, Russian President Vladimir Putin observed a moment of silence during a meeting on naval forces development, also conveying heartfelt condolences to affected families.
