In a significant security operation, Israeli authorities have detained three residents of eastern Jerusalem linked to the Islamic State (ISIS), effectively preventing a major terrorist attack. The suspects, in their 20s, were allegedly planning an assault on a Jerusalem checkpoint utilizing a car bomb, firearms, or drone attacks, officials revealed on Thursday.

The Israel Security Agency, commonly known as Shin Bet, along with Israel Police, disclosed that the men had been deeply indoctrinated with ISIS propaganda, including violent videos, leading to their radicalization. The first suspect's arrest weeks ago uncovered a firearm and ammunition, followed by the capture of two accomplices.

The investigation exposed their intent to inflict serious casualties on Israeli forces, with one suspect actively acquiring weapons. Intelligence indicated plans to connect with ISIS operatives in Judea and Samaria for operational support. Authorities asserted that the suspects aspired to join ISIS officially in Syria for advanced training.
