The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) has rebuked accusations from China's Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO), which alleged that Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) engages in political manipulation and is losing public backing. The TAO spokesman criticized the DPP for supposedly pursuing Taiwan independence and aiming for one-party rule, following failed recall votes against 24 KMT lawmakers.

In response, the MAC highlighted Beijing's lack of democratic experience, asserting no authority to comment on Taiwan's democratic processes. The council praised the recall vote as a testament to Taiwan's robust democratic framework, calling on all societal sectors to uphold and protect these achievements.

The MAC restated its unwavering commitment to defending Taiwan's sovereignty against China's pressures, insisting that Taiwan's mainstream sentiment aligns with democratic principles. The criticism extends to Beijing's exploitation of the recall vote for political gains, with Citizen Congress Watch advocating for China's adoption of recall practices.
