The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a grave warning about an impending intensification of monsoon rains set to drench the nation beginning Monday. The advisory underscores the looming threats of heavy downpours, urban flooding, flash floods, and landslides over the coming days, as reported by ARY News. Currently, weak monsoon currents are infiltrating the upper and central territories and are expected to build strength.

Adding to the concern, a new westerly system is predicted to enter Pakistan on Tuesday, July 29, which is expected to amplify the ongoing monsoon conditions, prolonging the wet spell. Impact-based advisories highlight the risk of flash flooding in local waterways and urban flooding in areas like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, and Sialkot from July 28 through July 31.

The alert extends to potential landslides in vulnerable mountainous regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat, and Kashmir. Tourists and travelers have been urged to refrain from visiting these high-risk zones during the critical period. The PMD is advising citizens to stay informed about weather developments and avoid needless exposure to risk-prone areas while encouraging authorities to stay vigilant and execute emergency response measures.
