A demonstration took place on Sunday outside the Quetta Press Club, urging authorities to expedite the recovery of Ghani Baloch, who reportedly vanished two months ago near Khuzdar, allegedly abducted by Pakistani security forces, according to The Balochistan Post (TBP).
Ghani's family claims that he was detained on May 25, and since then, they have been engulfed in grief and helplessness, with no trace of their beloved family member. The protest, organized by Ghani's family, was joined by members of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), the National Democratic Party (NDP), and relatives of others who have also vanished.
Efforts to file a First Information Report (FIR) at the Khuzdar police station were allegedly blocked, and the authorities have shown little cooperation. Legal avenues via Balochistan High Court and Khuzdar Sessions Court have also remained fruitless, with no FIR registered or significant legal action taken.
The National Democratic Party has decried Ghani's disappearance as an effort by the state to suppress political awareness among Baloch people, portraying peaceful activism as unacceptable. The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons condemned the government's approach, asserting that instead of addressing enforced disappearances, peaceful demonstrators are being penalized for raising their voices.
The protest concluded with a powerful call for the immediate release of Ghani Baloch and all other missing persons, alongside demands to halt the practice of enforced disappearances, a pressing issue in the region as highlighted by TBP. (ANI)
