Amid escalating humanitarian concerns, the recent return of almost 1.2 million Afghans from Pakistan has spotlighted the dire conditions in Afghanistan, a UNHCR report revealed. Many returnees are encountering severe challenges such as inadequate housing and a lack of essential services, with aid organizations urging urgent intervention to avert a deeper crisis.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) warned that political and security tensions in Pakistan are jeopardizing the future of over two million Afghan refugees. Furthermore, the persistent food crisis in Afghanistan has left more than 12 million people in dire need of assistance, exacerbating the nation's existing vulnerabilities.

Compounded by ongoing droughts and agricultural setbacks, Afghanistan continues to struggle with food insecurity, which the FAO attributes to a mix of conflict and climate instability. Humanitarian agencies have called for sustained international support, cautioning that without it, Afghanistan could face one of the world's most severe hunger disasters.
