In a dramatic turn of events, at least 29 passengers sustained injuries when the Islamabad Express derailed near Kala Shah Kaku in Punjab's Sheikhupura district. The derailment, which took place on Friday, initiated an extensive rescue operation, as reported by Dawn.

According to Punjab Rescue 1122, the incident occurred when five bogies of the passenger train came off the tracks near a chemical plant. Rescue teams received distress calls at approximately 7:32 PM and launched immediate relief efforts. "Six emergency vehicles and 25 rescuers were on the ground promptly. Most passengers suffered minor injuries such as scratches and bruises," stated Punjab Rescue Spokesperson Farooq Ahmed. While 22 individuals received first aid on-site, seven were relocated to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Muridke for further care.

The incident comes just days after another railway mishap involving the Jaffar Express near Shikarpur in Sindh province characterized initially by a reported explosion. However, the Ministry of Railways clarified that the derailment was due to a technical fault, and not an act of terror, despite claims from a terrorist group.
