In a move that has sparked outrage among victims, Ghislaine Maxwell, the accomplice of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has been transferred to a minimum security facility in Texas, according to the United States Bureau of Prisons. Al Jazeera reports that the relocation has left some victims dismayed.
Maxwell, who was previously at the low-security Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida, now resides at the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed Maxwell's transfer but did not offer any explanations, and her lawyer, David Oscar Markus, acknowledged the move yet refrained from discussing its rationale.
Following her 2021 conviction for facilitating the sexual abuse of underage girls, Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Victims such as Annie and Maria Farmer, and the family of Virginia Giuffre, have condemned the decision, labeling it as preferential. They argue it disregards the pain inflicted by Maxwell and Epstein, demanding better justice.
