Devastating flash floods that swept through Pakistan since late June have claimed the lives of at least 299 individuals, including 140 children, and left over 700 injured, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The torrential rains have wrought havoc, leaving a trail of destruction across the country, as reported by Dawn.

The extreme weather has not only taken a toll on human life but also destroyed 1,676 houses, with 562 completely razed and 1,114 partially damaged. Additionally, 428 livestock have been lost, amplifying the plight of affected communities. Rescue operations have been brisk, with the NDMA confirming 223 operations that evacuated 2,880 individuals from flood zones, alongside relief distributions including essential items like tents, blankets, and food packs.

Forecasts by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) indicate more rainfall and thundershowers in northern regions from August 4 to 7, particularly affecting areas like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Islamabad. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warns of possible medium to high-level flooding in several regions, urging caution as rains intensify in August.
