In a stark revelation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday accused foreign mercenaries from countries including China, Pakistan, and several African nations of siding with Russian forces in the ongoing war. This conflict continues to devastate Ukraine, causing tremendous loss of life and widespread displacement.
During his visit to the Kharkiv region's front-line, Zelenskyy praised the resilience of the 17th Separate Motorised Infantry Battalion of the 57th Brigade. The Ukrainian leader highlighted reports of foreign mercenary involvement against his troops, stating, "Our warriors report mercenaries from multiple countries are now part of the enemy forces, warranting a decisive response."
Amidst the ongoing hostilities, Zelenskyy thanked his soldiers for their bravery, presenting state awards as a token of gratitude. Meanwhile, talks between Russian and Ukrainian officials progressed, with both sides agreeing to exchange over a thousand prisoners, despite a surge in attacks in the Zaporizhia region, which claimed three more lives in recent days.
