Amid mounting international attention following India's "Operation Sindoor," Pakistan is intensifying its scrutiny and suppression activities in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB), territories under its control since 1947.

Recent developments have brought the plight of Syed Rehan Touqeer, a young physician from Kotli in PoJK, into the spotlight. Javed Beigh, a prominent Kashmir activist, revealed that Touqeer was prevented from boarding a flight to the United States due to allegations against his family of being "Indian Agents." Despite obtaining a valid US visa and completing necessary procedures, Touqeer was barred from travel at the last moment, adding strain to his personal circumstances.

This incident has sparked outrage among PoJK civil society groups, who view the restrictive measures as violations of constitutional and international human rights. The case has intensified scrutiny on Pakistan's approach to governance in these regions, with growing concerns over its authoritarian measures and the routine suppression of dissent.
