India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will visit Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, on August 17 for a two-day trip. The visit is aimed at laying the groundwork for Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's anticipated visit to India. Officials from both the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the schedule to ANI.
An official from the Indian Embassy highlighted the preparation efforts, stating, 'Foreign Secretary Misri will arrive on August 17 for a two-day visit following an invitation from the Nepali side.' The visit will focus on discussing progress on Indian-funded projects and preparations for Prime Minister Oli's visit to India.
This visit reflects the ongoing diplomatic exchanges between the neighboring countries. A high-level official mentioned that Misri would bring a formal invitation from India for Oli. Notably, Oli's official visit to India, expected in September, may be extended after Misri's discussions in Nepal. The outcome of this visit will clear the plans for Oli's first official tour to India as prime minister since assuming office in July last year.
