In a bid to bolster security for Bangladesh's upcoming general elections, the interim government has announced plans to acquire over 40,000 body-worn cameras for police officers stationed at voting booths. This decision was taken during a high-level meeting led by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka.

The meeting was attended by Home Adviser Lt General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Special Assistants Khuda Baksh Chowdhury and Faiz Tayeb Ahmed. Emphasizing the need for enhanced security, Faiz Tayeb Ahmed revealed that the procurement of the bodycams is nearing completion and highlighted that these devices could significantly improve safety at vulnerable polling centers.

Professor Yunus also instructed officials to accelerate the procurement process and ensure proper training for police personnel. Meanwhile, the government also disclosed an innovative plan to launch an Election App designed to provide voters with crucial election information and interactive features for addressing grievances. The Chief Adviser stressed the importance of launching the app promptly to serve over 100 million voters, ensuring a transparent and peaceful electoral atmosphere.
