India has raised its concerns with China regarding the construction of a mega dam on the Brahmaputra river, which could impact downstream states. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar brought up these issues with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a meeting in New Delhi on Monday.

The meeting was part of Wang Yi's two-day visit to India, where he co-chaired the 24th round of the Special Representatives' Dialogue on boundary questions with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. He also held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India's External Affairs Minister.

Discussions between the diplomats covered a range of topics, including de-escalation efforts, boundary affairs, and terrorism—a recurring issue in bilateral talks. India urged China to maintain transparency in its river projects, emphasizing the need for proper consultation with lower riparian states. The meeting also touched upon Taiwan, with India maintaining its policy of economic and cultural ties.
