In a resolute stand against global terrorism, India and Fiji on Monday declared their condemnation of terrorism in all forms and emphasized the urgency of preventing the misuse of new technologies for terrorist agendas. During a press conference after discussions involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Fijian counterpart, Sitiveni Rabuka, Ministry of External Affairs' Secretary Neena Malhotra confirmed Fiji's support for India's leadership role against terrorism.

The joint statement released post-meeting underscored both leaders' collective denunciation of the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed 26 innocent lives, reiterating a zero-tolerance stance towards terrorism. The dialogue stressed combating radicalization, thwarting terrorist financing, and preventing the exploitation of technologies for terrorist purposes through collaborative efforts at United Nations and other international forums.

Furthermore, the leaders exchanged insights on regional and global developments, emphasizing the need for comprehensive United Nations reforms to represent current geopolitical realities better. Fiji reaffirmed its support for India's potential permanent membership in an expanded UN Security Council while acknowledging India's significant leadership role in the Global South. Cooperation in advancing an open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region was also highlighted.
