During a press conference in Abu Dhabi, Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is keen on expanding its cooperation with India in high-tech sectors, particularly defence, aerospace, and space technology. Goyal noted the establishment of UPI in the region and the discussion of new investment opportunities in defence and aerospace.
Goyal also revealed that space collaboration talks included Pawan Goenka, President of INSPACE, who outlined India's capabilities in the sector. Goenka provided insights about the position paper and potential, attracting UAE interest. In terms of financial cooperation, Goyal discussed the recent posting of an Income Tax officer in the UAE, which facilitates faster financial information exchanges.
Highlighting the outcomes of the 12th Meeting of the India-UAE High Level Joint Task Force on Investments held in Mumbai, Goyal noted the growing relationship between the two nations. He praised India's Ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir, who was recently honored with the UAE's second-highest civilian award, crediting his efforts in enhancing bilateral relations.
