In a striking counterpoint to U.S. President Donald Trump's recent comments dismissing climate science at the United Nations General Assembly, Chinese President Xi Jinping unveiled new ambitious Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) at the UN Climate Summit. Xi committed China to reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by 7% to 10% by 2035 from peak levels, assertively positioning the nation as a leader in global climate governance.
