The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has inked a crucial agreement with Ukraine's Ministry of Energy to aid in the reconstruction of the nation's battered energy sector. Signed in Kyiv, this agreement aims to bolster Ukraine's recovery efforts following the extensive damage inflicted by Russia's continued aggression.

The IAEA's Director General, Rafael Mariano Grossi, highlighted the strategic importance of Ukraine's energy sector in the country's rebuilding efforts. Emphasizing nuclear energy's role, the agreement paves the way for expanding small modular reactors (SMRs) and repairing critical grid and substation infrastructure essential for nuclear safety.

The IAEA remains a steadfast partner in providing both humanitarian and technical support. Thus far, more than EUR 25 million worth of equipment and EUR 3 million in medical supplies have been delivered since the conflict's outbreak. This support includes the recent handover of a fourth ambulance under a specialized medical assistance program.
