In a significant diplomatic move, Iran has confirmed its proposal to the United States, seeking to permanently end what it describes as an "imposed war" and resolve ongoing tensions. The proposal was submitted through Pakistan, acting as a mediator, and was announced by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, during a meeting with foreign diplomats in Tehran.
Gharibabadi emphasized Iran's readiness for both diplomatic engagements and military preparedness, asserting that Tehran has always preferred interest-based diplomacy. According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), he highlighted that the proposal places the responsibility on the United States to choose between diplomacy or confrontation.
Despite Iran's diplomatic overtures, Gharibabadi expressed a deep-seated distrust toward the United States, questioning its commitment to genuine dialogue. The latest Iranian proposal aims to advance negotiations in the West Asia conflict, following recent U.S. amendments to a draft plan. While specifics remain undisclosed, U.S. demands include assurances on Iran's nuclear activities, drawing criticism and skepticism from U.S. President Donald Trump.
