A Los Angeles court has ordered a mental-health assessment for Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, the man accused of driving into Jennifer Aniston's Bel Air home. Carwyle, who was reportedly shirtless and wrapped in a blanket, remained silent as his attorney pleaded not guilty on his behalf to charges of stalking and vandalism.
Prosecutors allege that Carwyle, 48, from Mississippi, had been sending Aniston a barrage of messages for two years before crashing his vehicle into her front gate. The incident occurred while the high-profile actress was at home, but resulted in no injuries.
The judge, Keith L Schwartz, issued a restraining order against Carwyle despite his attorney's assertion that contact was unlikely. If convicted, Carwyle faces up to three years in prison. Aniston, who gained fame from her role on 'Friends,' has not commented on the situation.
