End of the Road: DND Flyway Stay Toll-Free

The Supreme Court on Friday maintained that the Delhi-Noida-Direct (DND) flyway should stay toll-free, marking a victory for commuters who use the route daily. The court rejected a review request from Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL), affirming its previous ruling that saw the toll abolished almost a year ago.
NTBCL, which operates the DND flyway, had argued citing a CAG report that allegedly contained favorable remarks about the company. However, the court highlighted the substantial profits NTBCL had already earned, stating there was no longer any justification to continue tolling the route.
Moreover, the court emphasized the misuse of power by authorities and remarked that NTBCL had sufficiently benefited from its investment. It reiterated that government actions should not disproportionally favor private entities over public welfare, reinforcing the importance of accountability in public infrastructure projects.
