In a significant bust, the Delhi Police have captured an interstate arms supplier, Ubaid Qureshi, linked to notorious gang activities in the region. Arrested near a hotel, Qureshi was found with a semi-automatic pistol and two live cartridges, all part of a well-coordinated capture operation, the police reported on Friday.
The law enforcement efforts kicked into high gear following intelligence inputs about an arms delivery. With swift action in the bustling streets of Paharganj, officers managed to corner Qureshi, who attempted to flee after alighting from an auto-rickshaw. Senior officers disclosed that his criminal activities date back to when he worked as a truck driver, eventually aligning with drug traffickers.
Further probing into Qureshi's history revealed his affiliation with Arshad, an ally of the gangster Azim, currently involved in a turf war against the Chenu Pehlwan gang. Qureshi's criminal ledger includes 13 cases in Uttar Pradesh and nine in Delhi, raising concerns on his role as an arms courier for multiple criminal factions. The investigation continues to unfold more layers of the criminal network.
