Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has articulated a strong stance on empowerment, underscoring the value of practical support over mere distribution of freebies. Speaking to self-help groups in Meghalaya, Dhankhar noted that true empowerment arises when individuals are helped to empower themselves, thus fostering satisfaction and family pride.
Addressing the historical 'Look East' policy, now advanced to 'Act East' under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dhankhar highlighted the policy's significant impact on Meghalaya. He pointed to the state's burgeoning potential in tourism, mining, IT, and other services, acknowledging the strides made under visionary leadership at both the central and state levels.
Praising the economic progress over the past decade, Vice President Dhankhar credited governance reforms that have driven meaningful development in Meghalaya. He noted the state's impressive 13% rise in gross state domestic product, underscoring the impact of decisive leadership from both Modi and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
