Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire between India and Pakistan to ensure peace for residents near the border. He criticized media voices distant from the conflict for their objections.

During his visit to the shelling-affected areas of Kupwara's Tangdhar district, Abdullah assured residents that damage assessments will be completed, with compensation provided promptly. He highlighted the resilience of affected families and promised government support.

Plans to build individual bunkers and enhance safety in border areas were discussed with a strategy set to be taken up with the central government. These measures aim to protect local residents and provide them renewed hope and dignity.
