A special court in Maharashtra has extended the police remand for Prashant Kamble, a Pune resident, until May 19 due to alleged connections with Maoist activities. The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has emphasized the severity of the charges against him.
Kamble, known as Laptop, was apprehended by the ATS after evading authorities since 2011 in an 'Urban Naxal' investigation. Senior Maoist figure Milind Teltumbde and top Maoist Angela Sontakke were also linked to the case in 2011.
The court ruled that further investigation into Kamble's activities and connections with the banned CPI (Maoist) is essential. Kamble has reportedly used multiple identities and was active in the Gadchiroli jungles, prompting the ATS to label him a 'high-value' target.
