Appointed last week by newly elected liberal President Lee Jae-myung, Minister for Trade Yeo Han-koo acknowledged the challenges businesses and the public face due to U.S. tariff measures. Yeo emphasized the task force's crucial role in developing effective strategies, with his leadership at the helm.

President Lee, following a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, indicated a shift from his campaign stance against rushing into agreements, now aiming for expedited talks. South Korea seeks exemption from tariffs impacting its major exports such as automobiles, steel, and semiconductors.
