B Mahesh Kumar Goud, President of the Telangana Congress, is expected to testify in connection with an illegal phone tapping case. Sources indicate that Goud, who was the party's working president in November 2023, became a victim during assembly elections under the BRS government.

Inquiries are focusing on T Prabhakar Rao, the former chief of the Telangana Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB), as the key suspect in orchestrating the phone tapping. Rao allegedly established a clandestine 'Special Operations Team' with a suspended DSP for politically motivated surveillance.

Hyderabad police have arrested several SIB officials, accusing them of erasing sensitive intelligence data and illegally surveilling political opponents. These officials allegedly manipulated surveillance for political gain, leading to a cover-up attempt by destroying records.
