Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe's Urgent Surgery After Shocking Shooting
Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe has undergone emergency surgery due to a brain bleed after being shot during a campaign event. The incident has stirred national fears reminiscent of past political violence. Three suspects, including a 15-year-old, are in custody.

Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe has been urgently transferred for brain surgery following a severe gunshot wound to the head sustained earlier this month during a campaign rally. The Santa Fe Foundation hospital confirmed Uribe, 39, who is a potential presidential candidate, underwent the procedure due to an acute inter-cerebral bleed.
The attack unfolded on June 7 in Bogota, shocking the nation and recalling a disturbing period in Colombian history marked by the assassinations of political figures in the 1980s and 1990s. The shooting was captured on video, sparking widespread concern about political safety in the country.
Authorities have detained three suspects in connection with the shooting. Among them is a 15-year-old alleged to be the shooter, intensifying fears over youth involvement in such violent acts.
