The political landscape in Goa has become fraught with tension following the dismissal of Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude. The opposition claims corruption is rampant within Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's administration and that Gaude's ousting was a direct result of his allegations against the tribal welfare department.
The state's Under Secretary (General Administration), Shreyas DSilva, issued a notification on Wednesday announcing Gaude's removal, though it omitted an official rationale for the decision. Amit Patkar, chief of the Goa Congress, insisted that several ministers under Sawant are embroiled in corrupt practices, urging prompt action against them.
Further criticism came from AAP Goa president Amit Palekar and Goa Forward Party leader Vijai Sardesai, who argue that Gaude's removal is politically motivated. Gaude himself called the decision a "reward" for his pursuit of justice for marginal communities.
