OIC Summit in Istanbul: Calls for Unity Amidst Rising Tensions

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is set to participate in a pivotal meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, scheduled for Saturday. A Turkish foreign ministry source disclosed the meeting's focus on escalating conflicts between Israel and Iran, which have captured global attention.

The special session of the 51st OIC Council of Foreign Ministers will concentrate on Israel's recent military actions against Iran, notably Thursday's attack on Arak's Khondab nuclear site. Israel's military affirmed targeting a partially built heavy-water reactor, viewed by experts as a potential source of weapons-grade plutonium.

Turkey has vocally condemned Israel's strikes as illegal, asserting Iran's right to self-defense. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is expected to inaugurate the two-day summit by urging Muslim nations to rally against destabilizing regional actions. President Tayyip Erdogan will also deliver a speech at the conference. The OIC, with its 57 member states, continues to offer a platform for political and diplomatic discussions among Muslim countries.
