In a significant narcotics bust, officials in Assam and Tripura seized heroin and methamphetamine tablets valued at over Rs 30 crore. The authorities apprehended one suspect in Tripura, while two individuals managed to escape capture, officials confirmed on Thursday.

The operation unfolded following a reliable tip-off, leading customs officers to intercept three smuggling attempts across Silchar, Assam, and Teliamura and Singerbil in Tripura on Wednesday. In Silchar, customs officials, aided by the BSF, confiscated 885.56 grams of suspected heroin and 15 kg of methamphetamine tablets from an abandoned car along the Mizoram-Silchar road, estimated to be worth over Rs 22 crore.

In Tripura, with the assistance of Assam Rifles, law enforcement seized 4 kg of methamphetamine worth Rs 4 crore during a raid in Teliamura, which led to an arrest. However, in Singerbil, two suspects on a two-wheeler evaded capture after officers secured another 4 kg of methamphetamine tablets.
