A Delhi-based woman's trust was shattered when a man she met on a matrimonial website defrauded her of Rs 75,700, posing as a 'legal officer' with the Research and Analysis Wing, according to officials.
The victim alleged that the accused, from Bengaluru, built trust through consistent communication and exchange of personal photos. He allegedly assured her he had deleted his matrimonial profile after their connection developed.
Between March 18 and April 15, she reported transferring money for various fabricated emergencies. Post-April 25, he became unreachable, prompting her to uncover his involvement in similar scams through media reports and past cases. An FIR was filed on June 11 as investigations continue.
