The Karnataka cabinet is intensifying efforts to secure relief from the central government for the state's mango growers, who are grappling with plummeting market prices this harvest season.
Following the cabinet meeting, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil addressed reporters, emphasizing the urgency of providing support to farmers, amid pressures from ministers of various regions. The Agriculture Minister, Cheluvarayaswamy, has been instructed to negotiate with Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan for a favorable outcome.
Meanwhile, the cabinet endorsed several initiatives, including a cashless health scheme sponsored by the government, and plans to establish a marine wildlife sanctuary in Uttara Kannada district. Additionally, modifications to the funding of the Anubhav Mantapa project were approved, reflecting increased costs due to GST considerations.
