Exiled Nicaraguan Critic Roberto Samcam Killed in Costa Rica

Roberto Samcam, a former Nicaraguan military officer known for his outspoken criticism of President Daniel Ortega's government, was killed on Thursday while in exile in Costa Rica. His death was confirmed by his wife and the UNAMOS political party.

Samcam held the rank of major in the Sandinista army before retiring and becoming an active critic of Ortega's administration, which has faced widespread criticism for its authoritarian practices.

Both the Costa Rican national police and the Nicaraguan government have not yet commented on the incident, as authorities work to understand the circumstances surrounding Samcam's death.
