The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to Vinay Kumar Tiwari, a former station house officer from Chaubepur accused in the notorious Bikru ambush case. This 2020 incident saw eight policemen slain during a raid involving gangster Vikas Dubey.

Justice Siddharth, on June 16, ordered Tiwari's release citing the extended duration of the trial and the fundamental right to a speedy trial per Article 21 of the Constitution. The decision, however, abstained from commenting on the case's merits.

Tiwari's counsel highlighted insufficient evidence linking Tiwari to informing Dubey of the raid, noting Tiwari's detention since July 2020. Meanwhile, the state's counsel argued Tiwari conspired with Dubey, contrasting the ongoing evaluation of 102 prosecution witnesses.
