In Navi Mumbai, a case has been registered against 20 activists from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for allegedly causing chaos at a civic hospital amid claims of corruption in the post-mortem department, according to police reports on Friday.
The disruption took place on June 17 when a group of MNS activists reportedly stormed into Vashi Municipal Hospital, targeting the medical superintendent, Dr. Rajesh Mhatre, while shouting slogans. They allegedly threatened and wrongfully honored Dr. Mhatre and assaulted the hospital's security chief.
The incident was reportedly sparked by a viral video on social media, claiming a post-mortem department employee requested a bribe from a deceased's family for handing over clothing. The activists documented their activities and shared the footage online. The police have registered a case under relevant laws; however, no arrests have yet been made.
