The Jalna district administration in Maharashtra has intensified its crackdown on corruption with the suspension of 11 officials over their alleged involvement in embezzling funds allocated for natural calamity-affected farmers.
This new action brings the total number of suspended officials to 21, following District Collector Shrikrishna Panchal's directive. Those suspended include seven village revenue officers and four clerks from the local tehsil office.
Investigations have expanded to include 35 more village revenue officers, as authorities seek to unravel a network responsible for siphoning off compensation funds totaling Rs 34.97 crore.
