Bihar Government Boosts Pensions Ahead of Elections
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a significant pension increase for senior citizens, widows, and people with disabilities, raising monthly payments by Rs 700. In a decisive move, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced an increase in pensions for senior citizens, widows, and people with disabilities. The monthly pension under the Social Security Pension Scheme will see a rise of Rs 700, bringing the total to Rs 1,100 starting in July.
This decision, Kumar communicated via X, targets a demographic of 1.96 crore beneficiaries across the state. Emphasizing the importance of dignified living, the pensions will be distributed to beneficiaries' accounts on the 10th of each month, according to Social Welfare Department Secretary Bandana Preyashi.
As the state gears up for its upcoming assembly polls, this move underscores a commitment to societal welfare, highlighting the government's focus on addressing the needs of its elderly and vulnerable populations.
