Authorities have detained the contractor responsible for the operation, as the workers reportedly lacked any safety equipment. Neither worker regained consciousness after their exposure, and both were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

The bereaved families of the victims were initially distraught and protested at the hospital but were later appeased with assurances from officials that adequate compensation will be provided. The deceased men have been identified as Narendra, 38, and Chhotelal, 40.
