Recent satellite imagery analyzed by The Associated Press unveils significant damage on the mountainside of Iran's Fordo nuclear facility, following targeted US airstrikes. The imagery depicts changes in landscape, suggesting the deployment of specialized American bunker buster bombs.
Images recorded by Planet Labs PBC illustrate the transformation of the mountain's surface from brown to grey, with altered contours indicative of a substantial explosion. Additionally, light gray smoke lingering in the air corroborates the presence of debris.
Iran has not yet provided an official damage assessment of the Fordo site. However, earlier satellite images imply that entrances to the site's tunnels were sealed prior to the US airstrikes.
