A leader from the Meitei organization Arambai Tenggol (AT) has been apprehended in connection with the murder of Md Chesam Abdul Kadir, a differently-abled man, in Manipur's Imphal West district. This arrest is the latest development in a case that has garnered significant public attention and outrage.
According to police statements, Longjam Khaba Singh, a 35-year-old resident, is the principal accused in this murder case. Singh was detained on Sunday near the Puthiba Laibung Complex after an intensive search. To date, 10 individuals, including seven members of the AT, have been taken into custody relating to the murder.
The discovery of Chesam's body, which had been buried on the outskirts of the district, triggered widespread protests among various Muslim organizations in the region. An investigation is underway, with authorities assuring a thorough examination of the events leading to this tragic incident.
