Tragedy Strikes Pilgrims: Landslide Horror on Yamunotri Trek
A landslide near Kainchi Bhairav Mandir on the trek to Yamunotri has left two dead and disrupted the journey of pilgrims. Rescue operations are underway as two are still missing. The injured survivor, Rasik from Mumbai, is stable. Authorities are investigating and aiding affected families.

Tragedy unfolded as a landslide struck five pilgrims near Kainchi Bhairav Mandir on the path to Yamunotri, prompting a swift response. Rescue operations commenced at 9 am, as confirmed by Disaster Management officials.
In a rescue mission late Monday, officials managed to save a pilgrim identified as Rasik from Mumbai, who sustained injuries. Two deceased individuals were also recovered: Harishankar from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, and his daughter, Khyati. Efforts continue to locate two missing pilgrims, Bhavika Sharma from Delhi and Kamlesh Jethwa from Mumbai.
Rasik recounted the harrowing experience of how the landslide caught him and his friends off-guard. District Magistrate Prashant Arya has pledged support to affected families and plans to assess the situation personally.
